SQL server Login connection failed sqlstate 28000 sql server err 1

Just recently our company upgraded to Windows XP Pro SP2, running Mdac 2.8.
We have Access 2000 database, using sql 7 back ends. The applications run
fine until when we try to relink them, after making changes. They relink
fine to a DSN and then when I close the Access application, then reopen, I
get the following error:

Connection failed: Sqlstate: 28000 Sql server error: 18456
Microsoft odbc sql server driver sql server login failed for user null;
reason, not associated with a trusted sql server.

We have many apps that down the road might need mods made to them. Right
now I am just working with one app. If I created a new Access database,
connected to a sql backend, it works fine.

Any help is appreciated.

fine until you try to save the version that was relinked. Have I understood
you? Correct me if I was wrong.

the latest service pack, which should be SQL Server 7 SP3

Secondly, you are using mdb or adp file? I have noticed that if a new file
was made, everything was fine, right? Is it possible for you to use some
other SQL client tools to c
